Scavenger Hunt 3 (5•23•23)

After we had completed our first set of locations on the previous scavenger hunt, we continued to explore other sections of London. We left Leaden hall Market and walked over to catch the tube at a nearby station, and from there we got on another bus to take us to our first location on the scavenger hunt.

While our group was on the bus, we realized that the bus doesn’t stop at each individual stop on the route. Our group quickly decided that we must follow along with the stops on-screen and ring the bell when we need to stop at our destination. Through traveling in the tube and bus system  our group worked effectively together to navigate a new city. I appreciated that all of our group mates were patient with one another and willing to take separate roles in the scavenger hunt each day.

We got off at Abbey Road Studios, went into the gift shop, and got some souvenirs for friends and family. Following this, we went to the famous Abbey Road crosswalk, where the Beatles' "Abbey Road" album cover was pictured. We had a challenging time trying to take photos as it is on a busy street with many tourists waiting to cross the street and take photos. We made some friends while we were on the road taking photos, which I really enjoyed.

After Abbey Road, our group took the bus to Little Venice. Here we crossed bridges and walked in the area, which was very quiet and residential. I personally enjoyed having hunt locations both in the city and on the outskirts of the city, where it might be a little quieter than the bustle of London. We walked to the nearest tube stop to head to our next location, Portobello Market. Emma and I walked around the market, grabbed a coffee, and went down a side street, where we discovered many beautiful houses painted in spring pastels. We took some photos on the street and then regrouped before we went to our last stop, the Churchill Arms. After visiting the pub, some of our group mates and I parted ways, and Emma and I took a cab back to our hotel.

The London Underground or The Tube, provides convenient access for locals and tourists to access many different parts of the city. As a group, we all quickly adjusted to the map system of the underground. Not to mention that the underground provides excellent signage and has minimal garbage in the subways. Like most major cities, rush hour is always busy on the tube. A few times the group and even the smaller scavenger hunt group was split up because lack of space. The tube was convienent, fast, and easy to use which made things a lot better for navigating our way around London for this day on the scavenger hunt.

This day was by far one of my favorite days. We had a wonderful morning before the scavenger hunt, and I am glad that I was able to spend some time with other people on this trip that I hadn’t really spoken with all that much. We were all very helpful and patient with one another when taking trains and bus rides in the city.
